Feature Reports
The following documents provide an overview
of key features of Elluminate Live!
Mac OS X Issues (rare)
After a recent Java update for Mac OS X, some Mac users have reported problems launching
Elluminate. Apparently, the location of Java Web Start was changed.
Here is a possible solution:
Navigate to: Macintosh HD -> System -> Library -> CoreServices
folder. Just opening this folder should cause the launch services database
to be rebuilt. Therefore should cause Java Web Start to get
re-registered with the launch services database and allow Elluminate to
now launch. Just try joining the Elluminate Live! session again.
If Elluminate still does not launch, try this. Use Finder to see if you have any
files called meeting.jnlp, or any
other .jnlp files, on your Mac (usually in your Download folder). If not, try joining an Elluminate
session, which should cause a
new meeting.jnlp file to be downloaded to your Mac.
After locating a .jnlp file, Right-click on the .jnlp file and select 'Get Info'. Under Get Info, locate the section labeled
'Open With' and select 'Java Web Start'. Now, click on the button that says 'Change All'.
This should fix it.
Some Mac users have also reported problems with older versions of
Elluminate. This is being investigated by Elluminate Support Team.
Other Issues or Problems
- Running Elluminate in a virtual environment such as VMware or
Parallels is not recommended!
- PC headset or a USB speakerphone be used for ALL participants if
they intend to use audio. This is due to acoustic echo and outside
noise that can disrupt a session. DO NOT
depend on software echo cancellation running on your computer!
This utilizes a lot of computer resources and usually does not work
very well.
